(2009) Joel with his wife, Dr Judy Yin Shih, in front of the Apple Pan. "Judy and I met on a 90-minute connecting flight to Phoenix....she was still living in Maryland, working for a think tank just outside of DC (she's got her PhD in Health Policy). She gave me her e mail on a barf bag...I started writing... we met in San Diego when she had to make a presentation... then I flew back to MD...we fell in love...Judy came out west...we sold our houses, got married and moved to San Marino. Judy has a recently-married daughter working on a PhD at Hopkins in Neurobiochemistry, and a son who just got his masters in Public Policy at Brown in RI and will be attending law school (health law)...My two daughters are in So Cal: one in Ventura, in school to get a teaching credential and runs her own Malibu preschool and the other is finishing up at UCSB in anthro."
